The Latest From Carolina Traveler

Treehouse getaways — you've seen them before.

And every time you do come across an Airbnb ad for a treehouse getaway, you think, “You know, that looks kinda cool.”

Well, Carolina Travelers, we're here to give you our official stance: treehouse getaways are COOL.

We've curated a list of the best treehouse getaways in North Carolina and South Carolina so you don't have to!

If you want to keep going down the summer vacation destination rabbit hole, we have a few prize opportunities, starting with your next foodie road trip — the South Carolina Pecan Trail. Because who doesn't love to eat their way through regional history and culture?!

Something for the adventurous at heart: a charming escape to Banner Elk, North Carolina. That's right, it's more than just a pretty town between two ski slopes. This destination is perfect for romantic retreats, family-friendly trips, and thrill-seeking escapades.

Of course, we're never in short of exciting summer events in the Carolinas. Coming up this week, we're heading to the Spruce Pine Alien Festival to hear from experts in “the field,” try some out-of-this-world “alien food,” and see what it takes to win the Area 51 costume contest.

Those in search of something more subdued are out of luck this week, we're afraid. The Charleston CariFest promises to entertain participants three days of food, fun, music, and costumes submerged in education and appreciation of Caribbean American heritage and culture.
