The trail is 0.6 miles round trip. Flat, easy, done in about 30 minutes. And when you get there, a 12-foot curtain of water is dropping into a wide, shallow pool like it's been waiting for you.

What You're Actually Looking At
The falls are wide—not a thin trickle threading down a mossy rock face, but a broad sheet of moving water that spreads across the full drop. The pool below is calm and shallow, and the whole scene is framed by hemlocks and river birch that keep things cool even in summer.
It photographs well from multiple angles, which matters if you're the kind of person who photographs things. It also just looks good if you're the kind of person who stands there and looks at things without taking out your phone. Both types leave satisfied.
When to Go
Spring is the move. Water flow peaks in March and April, and the falls go from impressive to genuinely loud—the kind of sound that fills your chest a little. The surrounding forest is just coming back to green, and the light through the canopy is soft in a way that's almost unfair.
Summer works too, but the water volume drops. Still worth it, just temper expectations slightly.
The Parking Situation (Read This Part)
The lot fills up early on weekends. Not “get there by noon” early. Get-there-by-9-or-accept-your-fate early. This is not a secret trail anymore, and the small parking area does not care about your schedule.
Weekday mornings are a different world. Quiet, uncrowded, the sound of the water instead of other people's bluetooth speakers. If your schedule has any flexibility, use it here.
The Bottom Line
Hooker Falls sits inside DuPont State Recreational Forest in Transylvania County, about 35 miles south of Brevard. It's the most accessible of the forest's several waterfalls, which makes it the right starting point if you've never been and the easy add-on if you have.
Half an hour. Twelve feet of falling water. No real excuses not to go.
Just don't sleep in on a Saturday and expect a parking spot.
