Ten events worth the drive From a mountain theme park with the High Country’s biggest fireworks show to a Revolutionary War battlefield marking its f irst Fourth in America’s 250th year, these ten events span the Carolinas from the mountains to the coast. All are verified for 2026.
1. NC 4th of July Festival Southport, NC June 28 – July 4 • All day (week-long festival)
A full week of grand parades, live music on multiple stages, arts and crafts, family activities, patriotic ceremonies, and fireworks over the waterfront in historic downtown Southport.
2. Tweetsie Railroad Fireworks Extravaganza Blowing Rock, NC Saturday, July 4 • 10 AM – 9 PM · Fireworks at 9:30 PM
The largest fireworks show in the High Country, held on the 69th anniversary of Tweetsie Railroad’s founding on July 4, 1957. The park runs extended hours and you can watch the fireworks for free from the parking lot. Bring lawn chairs and blankets. Fireworks viewing does not require park admission.
3. Fourth of July Celebration Manteo, NC Saturday, July 4 3 PM Fireworks at 9 PM

4. Bryson City Freedom Fest Bryson City, NC Saturday, July 4 10 AM Fireworks 10 PM
A full day of hometown celebration in downtown Bryson City. Festivities like arts, crafts, food vendors, and a parade begin at 10 AM. A live music line-up keeps
5. Backyard Fourth Maggie Valley, NC Saturday, July 4 • Gates open 6 PM · Fireworks at dark
A relaxed mountain Fourth at the Maggie Valley Festival Grounds. Bring lawn chairs and blankets for an evening under the stars. BBQ plates served by local police as a community fundraiser. Fireworks begin at dark, roughly 9:30 PM. No pets or alcohol. Free and family-friendly.
6. Revolutionary 4th Kings Mountain, SC Saturday, July 4 Starts 6 PM Fireworks at dark
The City of Kings Mountain celebrates the Fourth with a nod to the Revolutionary War battle fought nearby in 1780. Live music on the Neisler Stage, the Loch Norman Pipe Band, kids’ inflatables, face painting, and food vendors. Patriotic opening ceremonies lead into a live re-enactment of the Battle of Kings Mountain by the Liberty Mountain cast. One of the largest fireworks shows between Asheville and Charlotte follows at dark.
7. Lake Murray Independence Day Celebration Prosperity, SC Saturday, July 4 • Fireworks at dark
Fireworks launched simultaneously from Spence Island and Dreher Island over Lake Murray, choreographed to a patriotic concert broadcast on local radio. Thousands watch by boat on the water or from land at Dreher Island State Park (3677 State Park Road, Prosperity). Normal state park fees apply: $3 adults, $1.50 seniors, $1 ages 6–15. Named a top 10 place to celebrate the Fourth by Southern Living.
8. Rock Hill Red, White & BOOM Rock Hill, SC Saturday, July 4 • 4 PM – 9 PM
Rock Hill’s annual Independence Day celebration with fireworks and community festivities. The event begins at 4 PM. Attendees can enjoy live music, face painting, food trucks, and more! Admission is free.
9. Hillbilly Day Mountain Rest, SC Saturday, July 4 • 9 AM – 3 PM
Celebrate the Fourth with old-fashioned mountain fun: bluegrass pickin’, clogging, crafts, BBQ, historic demos, and the crowd-favorite greased pole climb and greased pig chase. Free admission, family-friendly charm, and rain-or-shine revelry from morning to afternoon.

10. Charlotte’s Stars & Stripes Spectacular Truist Field (Knights Stadium) Uptown Charlotte Saturday, July 4 • 7 pm – 9:30 PM
Spend Independence Day under the skyline with live symphony music, patriotic favorites, jazz, and film classics before a dazzling f ireworks finale above the ballpark.
