Double, double, toil and trouble! Two family-friendly Halloween activities await eager adventurers at the Adventure Center of Asheville, NC. The live-action Haunted Trail features 18 scenes with maniacal actors, monster-themed games, and disgustingly delicious treats. Get your heartbeat pumping even faster at the Aerial Glow Trail, a meandering maze through tree canopies studded with thousands of twinkling lights.

Soldiers Seeking Revenge
The three-day Battle of Bentonville was the largest battle in North Carolina history. History buffs with a penchant for the supernatural can appreciate one of the best-preserved battlefields from the Civil War era by embarking on a guided tour of the Harper House at Bentonville Battlefield. Experience harrowing sights and relics of battle in the home that served as a hospital for injured and dying troops.

The Right to Remain Frightened
Tread lightly through the sinister halls of the Old Charleston Jail, where some of the Holy City’s most disturbing criminals (and wrongly accused innocents) were left to perish. Put yourself in the literal torture devices used on pirates, prisoners of war, and the first female serial killer, all rumored to haunt the Old City Jail today.

Celebrate NC railroad heritage on the Legends by Lantern tour. Your adventure begins at the Barber Junction Visitor’s Center in Spencer, NC. Explore the Back Shop, Roundhouse, and Flue Shop while learning about past tragedies and the macabre rumors surrounding them. Bring a flashlight for this tour blending railroad history and folklore!
